Receiving Difficult Feedback

Definition

Say it out loud in an interview — clear, simple, no textbook wording.

"Tell me about a time you received difficult feedback" tests whether you can hear something unpleasant and use it. Everyone claims to welcome feedback. The story is the proof.

Interviewers score three things. Did you listen instead of defending. Did you understand the feedback well enough to repeat it. And did something visible change afterwards.

The trap is the feedback you secretly disagree with. "My manager said I was too quiet, but really I was just focused" is not a feedback story. It is a defence. Pick feedback that was at least partly right, and say so.
