Working Effectively in a Team

Definition

Say it out loud in an interview — clear, simple, no textbook wording.

"Tell me about a time you worked effectively as part of a team" tests whether you can be a good colleague, not just a good coder. Interviewers listen for your contribution inside a group result.

They score three things. Did you do something specific that only you did. Did you make the team faster or the work better, not just your own ticket. And can you describe the result without claiming the whole team's credit.

The trap is "we." A story told entirely in "we built, we shipped, we succeeded" hides your part. Interviewers cannot score what they cannot see. Use "I" for your actions and "we" for the shared result.
